Employment Systems Review

Dedicated to conducting thorough employment systems reviews, for client organizations with business interests across Canada.

SDS Strategic Directions & Solutions helps federally regulated organizations meet their audit compliance requirements as identified by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) - Labour based on the Employment Equity Act and the Federal Contractors Program regulations.

For an Employment Systems Review (ESR), we develop a systematic approach which takes into consideration employee needs, workplace constraints, and available resources. We ensure that employees understand the purpose of the review, the information to be collected, and how the results will be used.

We are dedicated to thorough and unbiased evaluations of employment systems and the identification of barriers to inclusive workplace cultures. Our ESR process generally includes: on-site visits to the workplace(s); detailed discussions with key individuals responsible for employment equity within the organization; review of the formal policies and procedures (written documents) for all generic and specific employment systems; identification of potential barriers and gaps; and the collection of feedback through focus group and one on one interviews to identify specific barriers, how these are manifested, who is most affected, and strategies to address them.

In order to obtain the full and frank advice of employees on potentially very sensitive issues, the Consultant ensures that information reported preserves the anonymity of the individual employees. ESR reports prepared for our clients meet all criteria as identified by HRSDC-Labour. Our reports document the findings, list the systemic barriers identified for each employment equity group, provide recommendations for addressing the barriers identified, and suggest the next steps in meeting Employment Equity requirements
